Galway fashion fan wins chance to design pair of Doc Martens
A Galway fashion blogger has won a competition to design her own pair of Dr Martens boots.
Rebecca Casserly from Oranmore has for the last two years been writing the blog under the pseudonym Bec Boop.
Last week she was announced as the winner of national bloggers’ styling competition #WalkYourStyle in association with the iconic brand Dr. Martens and the shoe shop Walk Shoes Online.
Rebecca was selected as a finalist along with the three other fashion bloggers in Ireland to participate in the competition which was part of Dr. Martens’ global #StandForSomething campaign.
The social media campaign gets fans of the boots to share their stories about what they stand for and photograph themselves wearing their favourite Docs style.
Each finalist was provided with a classic pair of Dr. Martens which they had to style in three different ways. The finalists also had to answer the question ‘what do you stand for?’.
Rebecca replied: “I stand for hard work and persistence. Persistence is defined as continuing in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition. Every time life puts a hurdle in my place I jump right over it and carry on with determination to succeed,” she wrote.
“I stay incredibly focused and I believe the key to happiness in life is ambition and drive. Persistence is in my personality and it’s what I stand for.”
The competition was judged by public vote via social media with over 3,000 total votes cast during October.
Rebecca’s prize involves a trip to London to visit the Dr. Martens factory and museum, designing her own pair of Dr. Martens boots and attending an exclusive concert as part of the UK #StandForSomething tour.
Rebecca’s blog on www.becboop.com has attracted almost 400,000 views and 3,000 followers. By day Rebecca works as an accountant in Limerick and by night she writes her blog and does fashion styling.
