GALWAY FARMERS URGED TO RETURN SHEEP CENSUS SUBMISSIONS

Galway sheep farmers are being urged to complete and return the 2012 census forms to ensure they fulfill a legal requirement.

It follows the granting of an extension to the closing date which had been scheduled for today.

The closing date for submissions is now this day two weeks January 25th.

The Minister for Agriculture has warned that failure to comply may lead to cross compliance penalties or impact on certain scheme applications.

This is echoed by IFA Regional Development Officer Roy O’Brien who says the Grassland Scheme is key to Galway farmers and the census details are essential.
