GALWAY FARMERS JOIN PROTEST OVER CONCERNS ON CAP REFORM
Date Published: 11-Mar-2013
The Agriculture Minister says some farmers will lose out while others will make significant gains in changes under the proposed new Common Agriculture Policy.
It comes as Galway farmers joined a national protest held to coincide with the visit by the Agriculture Commissioner to Dublin as part of our E-U Presidency.
The Irish Farmers Association says what is proposed could be seriously damaging to the productive agriculture sector.
Padraig Divilly is the Connacht Vice President of the IFA and attended today’s protest.
He says that productive farmers in the West need a fair deal.
Meanwhile, the EU Commissioner for Agriculture Mr. Dacian Ciolos insists that the outcome of the talks on a new Common Agriculture Policy will be fair to all European Farmers.
