GALWAY FARMERS GET 36 MILLION IN ADVANCE SINGLE FARM PAYMENTS

Over 36 million euro in single farm payments have been issued to Galway farmers.

The monies have been paid to over 10 thousand 500 of the county’s farmers in advance the original December pay-out date.

It followed representations to the Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney on the difficulties posed by poor unseasonable weather conditions.

Payments under the scheme have started issuing into bank accounts this week.

Just over 12 hundred Galway farmers have yet to be paid.

Galway West Fine Gael Deputy Brian Walsh says it’s a vital form of income at a time where cashflow presents serious difficulties for farm families.
