GALWAY FAMILIES FEAR CLOSURE OF RESPITE SERVICES FOLLOWING CUTS TO CHARITY BUDGET
Date Published: 04-Jul-2010
Families receiving assistance from the brothers of charity in Galway say they are both angered and terrified by the implications of further cuts in funding.
It’s been revealed that the Charity-which provides assistance to about one thousand people with disabilities, is to face further cuts of almost two million euro this year.
This is ON TOP of a two point five million euro cut to the Galway charitys budget less than two months ago.
It’s feared these NEW cuts in funding will force the closure of respite services across Galway city and County.
An emergency meeting with the board of the brothers of Charity will take place tomorrow evening, while a meeting of families and staff will take place Tuesday.
A major protest has also been organised in Galway, Limerick and Dublin this Wednesday in opposition to the cuts.
