Galway explosives bound for Dublin and Limerick gangs

DETECTIVES investigating the explosives find in the Oranmore area at the weekend believe that it was earmarked for delivery to criminal gangs in the Limerick and Dublin areas.

Gardaí are also putting the pieces together on where the17.5kgs of commercial explosives were sourced, but they are certain that the material was on its way to criminal gangs rather than any Republican splinter groups.

The seizure of the explosives in the Rinville area of Oranmore at around 2pm last Saturday brought to a conclusion a Garda surveillance operation which had been ongoing for a number of weeks.

Members of the Garda National Surveillance Unit, the Emergency Response Unit and Galway Gardaí were involved …..
