GALWAY EVENTS FOR MENTAL HEALTH WEEK

A number of events are planned by the Health Service in the West and NUIGalway as part of Mental Health Week.

The theme of this year’s campaign is ‘Building Resilience’ concentrating on developing personal strength.

The NUIG programme includes societies’ events, a graduate jobs fair, opportunities to volunteer with the ALIVE Volunteering Programme.

The college is also promoting the ‘MyStudentBody’ website which tackles relevant health issues on college campuses such as alcohol, drugs and sexual health.

A keynote session of ‘Laughter Yoga’ will take next Thursday, October 14th at noon outside Áras na Mac Léinn.

Health Promotion Officer at NUIG, Cindy Dring, says is a great way to promote positive mental health.

Meanwhile, Galway Mental Health Association has organised a celebration of choral music at St. Nicholas Collegiate Church tonight [Sat] at 8 o’ clock.

On Monday, an exhibition of art work by service users from Céim Eile and Danesfield House Day Centres will go on display in the main foyer of University Hospital Galway.

From Wednesday information sessions will take place in the foyer of UHG on mental health issues and how to access services.
