Engineers from Galway and the West say the road network here is of "critical importance" because of the dispersed nature of the population.

Engineers Ireland West has published a report as the annual conference of the Association continues in Salthill.

The report stresses the urgent need for the Gort to Claremorris section of the Atlantic Corridor aswell as the Outer City Bypass.

Director General of Engineers Ireland, John Power told Galway Bay fm News, that investment in infrastructure will boost the local economy.
