GALWAY EAST – Loughrea and Ballinasloe boxes opened

With the opening of the boxes in the Loughrea and Ballinasloe areas having been completed, it looking like a certain seat for Cllr. Paul Connaughton jnr.

He has amassed more than 3,300 first preferences with the Tuam and North Galway boxes yet to be opened and this will certainly copper fasten his seat.

It also looks good for Sen. Ciaran Cannon to take the second FG seat in the constituency while Deputy Micheal Kitt is favoured to take the Fianna Fail seat with the help of transfers from Michael F. Dolan.

Cllr. Timmy Broderick is not without a chance of taking a seat but the strength of the other indepdent Cllr. Sean Canney in Tuam has yet to be determined.

A fully tally is expected by lunchtime.
