GALWAY EAST – Final tally, FG in with a chance for 3 seats

Fine Gael are in which a realistic shout of taking three seats in Galway East as the battle for the last seat now looks set to be fought out between three candidates.

The tallies have revealed that Paul Connaughton and Ciaran Cannon will take two FG seats with Micheal Kitt likely to retain his seat for Fianna Fail.

Then it is a battle between Independent Sean Canney and Fine Gael’s Tom McHugh for the final seat with Independent Timmy Broderick not out of the race but he has just a slim chance.

Fine Gael is on 42.3%, Fianna Fail on 18.3%, Labour on 13.2% and Independents have 19.1%.

The tally results are as follows:

Sean Canney 5,523

Jimmy McClearn 5,124

Timmy Broderick 4,976

Colm Keaveney 4,202
