Galway duo join musical youth
Two Galway teenagers are among a select group who will get to experience what lies behind the complex part of the music industry.
They will not be singing or performing but they will be tasked with challenges relating to what goes on behind the scenes. The programme, entitled Music Inc, begins on Friday at 5pm on RTE2
Juliet Kennedy (14) is from Eyrecourt and Alan Kelly (15) comes from Tuam and they will be battling it out with eight other competitors who will be working with some of the biggest names in the music business.
Both Juliet and Alan are fanatical about music. They both sing and play a variety of instruments and even at this stage of their young careers, they are hoping that music will be their life.
The competition focuses on the behind the scenes of the music industry in which the contestants have to do tasks from making a music video to choreographing a dance troupe.
Alan Kelly is the teenage son of Adrian and Valerie Kelly from Cedar Court in Tuam. He is also the nephew of the former and last Mayor of Tuam Cllr. Imelda Kelly.
He is a Junior Cert student of St Jarlath’s College in Tuam and has been involved in music from a very early age.
Juliet Kennedy is the daughter of Philip and the late Barbara Kennedy from Eyrecourt. Juliet is a Junior Cert student at Portumna Community College.
Her mother died when Juliet was just eight years of age through cancer but had always believed that her daughter’s music ability would stand her in good stead.
In fact it was at eight years of age that Juliet started playing instruments including the cello, guitar and violin.
