Galway doctors top earners under medical card scheme in West

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Two Galway based doctors were the top earners in the West under the medical card scheme last year.
In the HSE West region, Galway based Dr. Michael Casey and Dr. Brendan Day topped the list.
The figures compiled by the Irish Independent show that Dr. Michael Casey received the highest amount in payments under the medical card scheme in the West, earning a gross total of over 542 thousand euro.
The second highest claimant in the West was Dr. Brendan Day who received over 527 thousand euro.
The data shows that 100 GPs nationwide claimed a total of over 46 million euro in 2013 under the scheme.
A GP based in inner city Dublin topped the national list grossing over 825 thousand euro.
