GALWAY DIOCESES NOT IN FINANCIAL TROUBLE DESPITE INCOME DROP

The dioceses of Galway, Tuam and Clonfert are not in the same financial difficulty as the Archdiocese of Dublin, despite donations being down.

Parish incomes in the Archdiocese of Tuam have dropped by up to 15 percent on average in the past few years.

In Clonfert, the Diocese saw a drop in the levies received from parishes of almost 11 percent between 2009 and 2010.

The Diocese of Galway can’t provide specific figures but a spokesperson says donations are down in its parishes too.
