Galway designers ‘pop-up’ in Paris
Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle with Denise McNamara
The mother-daughter duo behind the Galway fashion brand Mise Tusa have launched their first international pop-up shop in the heart of the French capital during Paris fashion week.
It’s been a dream come true for designer and creative director Meritta Gorman-Geoghegan and her daughter Bridget Geoghegan to be based at the Jardin du Palais Royal, sharing the space with internationally renowned labels including shoe king Manolo Blahnik and Taiwanese silk designer Sophie Hong.
“We’ve had a great reaction, Even with our name – Mise Tusa – people love to hear what it means – and how to pronounce it,” exclaims Bridget, who is responsible for the marketing and online sales for the company based at Clarinbridge.
“It is very inspiring to see how well-respected Irish fashion and design is abroad. The feedback on the collection itself has been amazing, people love that not only do we design the pieces but we also make them ourselves in our studio in Galway – there is a real appreciation for the craftsmanship behind what we do, and our considered use of Irish wools, luxury industry surplus and bamboo fabric.”
The French are particularly taken with the versatility of the pieces.
“Our Draiocht coat which can be worn upside down, is going down really well. We’ve been told that our space and collection has left people feeling very inspired and uplifted – which is always nice to hear.”
