Galway dance fans setto party with gig from Dublin’s Le Galaxie
There aren’t many bands that say ‘party’ quite like Le Galaxie. The Dublin band come to Róisín Dubh on Friday, December 22, armed with tunes that take the best elements of dance music and bring them to the live arena.
They are stalwarts of the festival scene, and people shouldn’t miss out on the chance to see them in a more intimate venue.
Le Galaxie know how to write anthems, as the excellent Love System shows. The song is a collaboration with Elaine Mai, who enjoyed a fruitful 2017 with the release of an excellent EP.
“Le Galaxie are absolute gents to work with, they really are,” Elaine says. “I really remember vividly when Mick [the lead singer] came up to me at Castlepalooza, it must have been 2011. He said ‘we have a track, we’d really love if you’d consider singing on it.’ I was delighted!”
The song went on to become the soundtrack for Ireland’s 2015 Same-sex Marriage Referendum, and was later used in a Vodafone ad campaign. Even with exposure like that, the tune never gets old.
And Le Galaxie have a set full of belters – if you like dancing, then this is a live show that’s truly unmissable. Expect to hear some newer material too as the band are scheduled to release their third album in early 2018.
