Galway dairy farmers could face super levy over quotas
Galway bay fm newsroom – Dairy farmers in Galway could face hefty financial penalties this year if they continue to exceed EU milk quota rules.
That’s according to MEP Jim Higgins, who says the penalties could come in the form of a ‘super levy’.
He says that the most recent research indicates that Ireland is already 4 million litres over the milk production quota for 2013.
MEP Higgins says that Galway dairy farmers could face serious financial penalties at a cost of almost 29 euro per litre
