Galway couple enjoy their wedding day – at fifth time of asking!
They say that marriage takes perseverance to succeed – but for one Galway couple, even getting up the aisle proved to be battle of epic proportions.
Because by the time that Damien Kenny and Egle Prusaityte finally made their vows to each other last week, they had been forced to postpone their nuptials on four occasions because of Covid.
The Oranmore couple were originally due to get married on May 15 2020 in Glenlo Abbey Hotel, but the pandemic put an end to that. And three subsequent attempts to make it up the aisle also fell foul of the curse of coronavirus.
However, proving that everything great is worth waiting for, Damien and Egle were joined by close family and friends for their big day in Glenlo last week – succeeding at the fifth time of asking.
Their first failed attempt two years ago actually turned out to be a day to remember anyway, as their family, friends and neighbours surprised them by gathering in their estate, while social distancing, to wish them well and cheer them up on what should have been their big day.
And entering into the spirit of things, Egle even donned her veil and carried her wedding bouquet as the well-kept surprise unfolded.
