GAA clubs in Galway are doing their bit to tackle the drink and drugs culture which is emerging in our society.

Over 50 representatives from county clubs attended a meeting at GMIT last night to discuss how they would introduce measures to steer young players away from alcohol and drugs.

A specific person has been nominated in 65 Galway clubs in Galway to offer support to players who feel they may need advice.

GAA County Board Youth Officer, Pat Carney says the GAA is not on a crusade, but hopes a few simple measures will help towards combatting binge drinking among young people.
