Galway County Councillors have voted to dis-associate themselves from a recent effort in Kerry Co Council to allow people to drive in rural areas while over the legal alcohol limit.

The motion was proposed by Councillor Tim Broderick, who is himself a publican.

Councillor Michael Fahy, who last week came out publicly in support of Kerry’s motion calling for rural people to be allowed to drink and drive in limited circumstances, was not at the meeting during the discussion.
