Galway County Council staff levels drop by a third
Galway bay fm newsroom – Staff levels at Galway County Council have dropped by more than a third since the start of the recesssion.
According to today’s Irish Examiner, 399 employees of the county council have left since 2008.
Environment Minister Phil Hogan says the reduction in staff at local authorities is due to a moratorium on public sector recruitment since 2009.
So far the estimated payroll savings across all local authorities is 300 million euro.
