GALWAY COUNCILLOR SLAMS NEW HOUSEHOLD CHARGE

An independent Galway County Councillor is accusing the Government of laziness over plans to introduce a new household charge next year.

Yesterday the Cabinet approved the flat rate 100 euro charge for households from next January.

Councillor Seán Canney says it’s a lazy way for the Government to bring in funds without giving anything back to the taxpayer.

Councillor Canney says it’s penalising people who are already paying many taxes.
