GALWAY COUNCILLOR SLAMS CUTS TO SCHOOL REPAIRS

There’s criticism of the Government’s plan to abolish grants for summer repair work schemes in schools.

Councillor Jarlath McDonagh says as a result of this decision schools will no longer receive money for vital maintenance work such as roof repair and refurbishing rooms.

Councillor McDonagh believes the funding, which used to be allocated to school repairs, is now to be given to new schools in the East of the country in a calculated move by the Government.
