Galway consultant contributes to international report on cholesterol and heart disease

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway-based consultant has contributed to an international review which suggests that high levels of total cholesterol causes heart disease.
17 international physicians compiled the paper based on a review of patient data of more than a million people.
Professor Sherif Sultan based at University Hospital Galway says that many people around the world are taking statins to lower cholesterol, despite a lack of proven benefits.
According to today’s Irish Times, the review has been published in the Expert Review of Clinical Pharmacology journal.
