GALWAY CONFERENCE TO EXAMINE NURSING HOME STANDARDS

Key stakeholders in nursing home care from around the country will gather in Ballybrit tomorrow [mon may 12] to discuss the new nursing home standards

The day long conference in the Clayton Hotel will be the first time compliance with the new standards set down by the Health Information and Quality Authority will be fully explored

Speakers include Galway Hospice Dietician Alex Kilkelly, Cora McNamara of Greenpark Nursing Home Tuam and Geriatric Consultant at Merlin Park Dr Shaun O’Keeffe

Dr O’Keeffe says the focus needs to be on public nursing homes also, even though the high profile exposés mainly involved private facilities, and adds time is of the essence
