Galway city is running out of cemetery space.

A city councillor has raised concerns that the two main cemeteries at Bohermore and Rahoon only have enough places to remain open for another two years.

The City council last week placed ads in local papers seeking expressions of interest from landowners who might provide lands for burial grounds.

PD city councillor Donal Lyons is now urging council officials to begin issuing CPO’s to avoid a crisis in two years time.
