Galway City has highest percentage of women in top Council jobs
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway City Council employs the highest percentage of women in top jobs of any local authority in the country.
That’s according to a survey which reveals that 44 percent of senior positions at Galway City Council, with a salary of more than 50 thousand euro are held by females.
At Galway County Council, women account for 23 percent of senior positions, and County Manager, Martina Maloney is one of three women nationally to hold the managerial position.
The survey, published by the Irish Independent, shows that nationally, only 10 percent of top local authority jobs are held by women.
Meanwhile, another report has found that more companies are slightly more in favour of fulfilling gender quotas.
The study carried out by Harty International shows that 40 per cent of bosses are in favour of the idea.
However 37 percent of company bosses don’t like the idea of having to meet gender quotas.
