A seven year-old boy living with a number of chronic medical conditions has seen his wish come true . . . and now has his own special garden!

The Make-A-Wish charity and the people of Clonberne came together to bring joy to little Liam Mac An tSaoi by making his wish a reality.

Liam, who lives with a number of medical conditions including chronic lung disease, a metabolic condition called PKU and has an amputated leg, wished for his own special garden that combines his two big loves – the outdoors and trains.

The garden was specially designed to suit Liam’s needs and includes soft play surfaces, planting and landscape features to stimulate the senses as well as a beautiful train for Liam to climb into and call his own!

Liam’s dream of his own peaceful, accessible garden is now a reality thanks to the commitment and generosity of his friends, neighbours and the local business community.

Liam’s mum, Louise, said: “Liam was in hospital until he was four years old and since coming home he just loves playing outside and visiting his local train station to watch the trains come and go.

“It is truly amazing to have such a perfect place for Liam to call his own and enjoy. The surfaces are perfect for crawling on and he just loves having his very own train.”

Susan O’Dwyer, CEO of Make-A-Wish Ireland said, said: “We are honoured to have made Liam’s one true wish a reality.

“Creating Liam’s garden has been a labour of love for everyone involved. To see the joy and happiness on Liam’s face when he first saw his new garden has made it all so worthwhile.
