Galway-based developer Kevin McGeever fails to raise bail money
Galway-based property developer and businessman Kevin McGeever has been remanded in custody for a fortnight, after he failed to produce money for bail at Harristown District Court this moring.
The 68-year-old, who has an address at Ballywinna, Craughwell, had been remanded in custody with consent to bail when he appeared in court on Wednesday on charges of wasting Garda time.
Bail has been set on his own bond of €2,500 and an independent surety of €10,000, with a minimum of €3,000 to be in cash.
Judge Geoff Browne was told the former multi-millionaire was not in a position to raise the bail, and he was again remanded in custody with consent to bail to Friday, August 9.
He is charged under sections 12 (a) and 12 (b) of the Criminal Law Act 1976, relating to wasting Garda time on dates between January 29th and February 28th this year.
The case relates to an investigation into McGeever’s discovery on a roadside in Leitrim last January.
