Staff at insurance company Aviva will begin industrial action tomorrow.

Last month, the company announced the loss of 950 jobs in Galway, Cork, Dublin and Laois and potentially outsourcing 300 more.

Full details of the cuts are expected to be revealed next month.

Aviva employs around 200 people at its call centre in Knocknacara and 10 more at its branch in Eyre Square.

The UNITE union balloted its members at Aviva last week and over 90 per cent voted in favour of industrial action.

The union says Aviva customers will not be affected by the action.

UNITE confirmed to Galway Bay FM News this evening that this industrial action will commence tomorrow.
