Galway auditions seeking the next Kate Moss supermodel

Girls who think they could be the next Kate Moss or Heidi Klum can audition for a new television series today (Tuesday) in the city.

The Galway auditions for RTE’s new series, The Model Scouts takes place at 4pm at the Eyre Square Centre today when the scouts will be looking for girls aged over 16, be at least 5’7” in height with an ambition to be a supermodel.

Sideline Productions, who are the producers of the show, have had auditions in Dublin, Cork and Limerick over the weekend which attracted large numbers but following on last year’s series, The Model Agent, the programme makers are hoping Galway will be represented this year too.

Last year, Rochelle McIntyre from Tuam was one of the 12 finalists, along with NUI Galway Law student Jaime O’Connell from Limerick.

The 12 girls picked to take part in the programme, which will be broadcast over six weeks next Autumn or Spring, will be put through their paces, with new challenges being presented to them this year.

The programme will shadow Jeni Rose and David Cunningham, Vice Presidents of International Development at IMG Models in Paris and New York respectively, as they scour the length and breadth of the country to find a young Irish girl that they can develop long term into a major international success.

Only one will win the final prize: the coveted one year contract with IMG Models – part of the biggest and most successful management company in the world, which represents Kate Moss, Liv Tyler and Heidi Klum. Other prizes will include a front cover fashion shoot and the opportunity to be ‘the face’ of a major Irish fashion launch – details will be revealed during the TV series.

Carrie Anne Burton, the winner of last year’s The Model Agent is continuing to enjoy a fruitful modelling career having won a contract with Independent Models.

Girls coming to today’s auditions should come bare faced, without make-up and preferably no fake tan. But applicants can also log onto www.rte.ie/tv/themodelscouts to access an application form.
