GALWAY ARCHIVIST DONATES RARE NEWSPAPER COLLECTION

A Loughrea Town Councillor will present 157 issues of the former Dublin Evening Mail to the Dublin City Library tomorrow.

The issues – dating back over 170 years – have been part of the personal collection of Independent Councillor Norman Morgan.

The newspaper was first published in 1823.

It was one sheet, front and back and was the longest running evening newspaper when it last appeared in 1962.
