GALWAY APPEAL FOLLOWING MAJOR PROSTITUTION PROBE
Date Published: 30-May-2012
A support service for women affected by prostitution and human trafficing is making an appeal to Galway victims following a nationwide probe.
Officers investigating cross border organised prostitution have arrested eight people for questioning as part of the operation.
Three people are being held in the Republic and five others are detained in Northern Ireland, after raids at more than a hundred premises north and south of the border yesterday.
It’s understood this includes one brothel in the Galway area but county breakdown has yet to be released for Garda operational reasons.
Three suspected victims of human trafficing have also been brought to safety.
Speaking on Galway Talks, Geraldine Rowley of the Ruhama support group has this appeal for any Galway victims.
