The final details of Galway airport’s budgetary plan to save it from closure have been submitted to the Minister for transport.(30/05)

Amended figures, compiled over the past few days have today been sent to Leo Varadker, following intense negotiations over the past week.

The plan outlines minimum budgetary requirements for the Carnmore facility until 20-14, when the airport claims they will no longer need Government funding.

The board is asking for one point 2 million euro to run the airport next year alone, well above what the Government is offering.

The current budget allows 600 thousand euro for regional airports that lost PSO funding, which includes Galway, Sligo and Waterford.

Fine Gael’s Galway West TD Brian Walsh says the Transport Minister will make a decision on funding for Galway airport next week
