GALWAY AIRPORT DEPENDENT ON AER ARANN RESTRUCTURING
Date Published: 28-Aug-2010
GALWAY Airport is highly dependent on Aer Arann being able to restructure it’s debts and building on its strengths into the future according to a local politician.
This is the view of a former member of the airport board local Senator Fidelma Healy-Eames.
She says that Aer Arann is the key airline that fulfills a regional development remit and provides connectivity between Galway and other areas of Ireland and Europe.
According to her the airline, which went into voluntary examinership on Thursday, needs to be given space to restructure its debts and get its affairs back in order.
She has called for action from Minister Batt O Keefe and the Government and she added she is not convinced the Government headed previous calls from airline boss Padraig O Ceide for more committement to the West.
