Galway addiction counselling service to be divided across day hospitals
Galway bay fm newsroom – Addiction counselling services are to be divided among a number of day hospitals across Galway.
Area manager for Galway and Roscommon community health services Catherine Cunningham met with a delegation of Galway TDs this week to discuss the plans.
It came amid concerns that services which were transferred to UHG would not be re-instated at Merlin Park after the unit was destroyed by fire.
Services will continue to be provided one day a week in Carraroe, Clifden and now one day at Lá Nua in Ballybane, and two days a week in UHG.
Under the new system, addiction counselling services will be under the umbrella of the ‘multidisciplinary team,’ meaning patients can also avail of other services.
