Future of derelict Portumna hotel to be determined following arbitration case
The future of the derelict Shannon Oaks Hotel in Portumna is to be determined following an arbitration case to be heard in September.
The three star south Galway hotel was badly damaged by a fire in September 2011.
At the time, a team of up to 60 full and part-time staff were let go until operations could resume.
Galway East Labour Senator Lorraine Higgins held a meeting with the recievers Grant Thornton today (Apr 26) and sought clarity on future plans for the facility.
She has been informed that an arbitration hearing will take place in September between the bank reciever and the insurance company.
Senator Higgins told FYI Galway that the receiver is also open to ideas from the local Chamber of Commerce on how the facility can be progressed in the future.
