Further water restrictions imposed in County
Galway bay fm newsroom – The current dry weather and record temperatures has lead to an increase of water consumption and therefore low resevoir levels in certain areas.
A hosepipe ban is being imposed county wide for now and the council is asking water users to avoid wasting water as it is a valuable and finite resource.
Night-time water shut offs will be imposed on schemes from 12 midnight to 6am at Ballygar, Dunmore/Glenamaddy, Williamstown, Ballymoe, and Kilkerrin/Moylough.
Night time shut offs will also begin at Tonabrocky reservoir from 10pm to 6am and this will affect areas such as Barna, Moycullen, Ballymoneen, Tonabrocky, Clybaun and Rahoon.
There are low resvoir levels in the Ballinasloe water supply too and people are urged to conserve water in Eyrecourt, Laurencetown and Clonfert.
In a statement, Galway County Council says it is putting measures in place to ensure continuity of supply.
