The National Parks and Wildlife Service will host a public meeting in Maam Cross tomorrow [8/8], to further discuss the proposed destocking of sheep on Connemara mountains.

The conservation measures, which are part of an EU Directive, will affect farmers in the 12 Bens / Garraun and Maamturk mountain complex SACs.

The controversial legislation will mean farmers will have to remove sheep from the Connemara mountains for 5 months of the year.

The meeting will take place in Peacocks of Maam Cross tomorrow, Friday, at 8pm
