Further delays in Connemara as coach and lorry block roadway
Motorists in the Connemara area are advised to expect further delays as efforts continue to remove a 52 seater coach and a lorry from a local roadway.
The vehicles got caught along the Bog Road as they diverted off the N59 which has been closed due to a landslide.
A series of landslides began last Thursday evening around 5 miles east of Clifden town, and thousands of tonnes of landslide material covered the road.
As a result diversions are in place.
Motorists were advised to divert via the R344 for those travelling to/from Clifden and via the R341 for those travelling to/from Roundstone.
Some motorists have been opting to travel along the Bog Road off the N59 between Roundstone and Ballyconneely.
This has resulted in a blockage involving a 52 seater coach and a lorry which failed to pass along the narrow roadway.
This roadway is now closed as efforts continue to remove the vehicles.
It’s hoped the N59 will reopen this evening, however this is dependent on weather conditions.
