Funk and jazz rock from Mustang Hobo
Date Published: 28-Apr-2011
Emerging funk-rock trio Mustang Hobo bring their comic and catchy blend of funk and jazz-rock to the Róisín Dubh this Friday, April 29.
The eclectic sets of the three-piece band from Scarriff, in Co Clare have quickly earned the group a reputation for delivering energetic and entertaining shows on stage and they have gigged in some of the best music venues in the country since they got together just three years ago.
The band was started by bassist Neil Farrell in 2008 and he has since been joined by singer/guitarist Tuan O’Callaghan and drummer Emmet Roberts. Having shown considerable promise during live performances, the band is currently set to turn its attention to making its first official recording and an EP is expected to be released before the end of the year.
The three will be joined on the night by London band Walls, composed of Allez-Allez’s Sam Willis and Alessio Natalizia of Banjo or Freakout. Their combination of guitar riffs, synths and haunting vocals have made their upcoming self-titled debut LP highly anticipated ahead of its release.
The Manchester natives play downstairs at the Galway venue this weekend, while Mustang Hobo entertains an audience upstairs. Both gigs are free of charge and kick off at 9pm at the Róisín Dubh on Dominick Street, this Friday.
