FUNERAL TIME LIMITS EXTENDED FOR CITY CEMETERIES

There’s been an extension of the time limit for funerals to arrive at two city cemeteries.

Galway city council has agreed to extend the time limit from 2pm to 2.30 pm in the winter months of November, December and January.

The limit for the rest of the year has been put back by an hour to 3pm.

The decision to change the time limit for funeral corteges to arrive at Bohermore and Rahoon Cemeteries was taken by Galway city council Director of Services Tom Hernon.

It follows concern raised by city councillor Terry O’Flaherty that the earlier time limit to be at cemeteries by 2pm was putting undue pressure on grieving families.
