Date Published: 24-Oct-2008
Galway Fire Brigade are to be housed in new temporary accommodation in the city
According to Junior Minister and Galway East T.D. Míchael Kitt, the current fire brigade offices at the Claddagh pose health and safety concerns.
300 thousand euro has now been allocated to build new temporary offices at the nearby Fr. Griffin road in the city.
A new five million euro headquarters for Galway fire brigade has been in the pipeline since 2005.
However, a final decision on the funding, location or design team for the building has still not been made, but it may be on the east side of the city.
