FUNDING FOR FLOOD ALLEVIATION IN GORT

37 thousand euro is to be allocated for flood alleviation works in the Gort area.

The funding is being provided by Galway County Council under the Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme and has been approved by the Office of Public Works.

22 thousand 500 euro will go towards Peterswell where culverts will be replaced and drains will be maintained.

Over 15 thousand euro will go towards the first phase of an Environmental Assessment at Termon.

Galway East TD Paul Connaughton says the works are vital for the South Galway area which suffered great devastation following flooding in 2009.
