FUNDING DROPS FOR REGIONAL AND LOCAL ROADS

Funding for new major roads has risen in County Galway for 2010 compared to last year.

But there will be less money available for regional and local roads.

The funding package of 23 million euro for County Galway’s roads was officially announced yesterday by Minister for Transport, Noel Dempsey.

1.2 million euro has been committed for the Barna to Ros a Mhíl road, while 1 and a half million euro will go towards the Athenry Northern Ring Road.
