FUNDING APPROVED FOR TONABRUCKY RESERVOIR
Date Published: 11-Jul-2012
The Tonabrucky Reservoir project is set to go ahead following the allocation of Government funding.
800 thousand euro has been set aside by the Department of the Environment, which will allow the County Council to accept a tender from construction company MEIC Ltd.
Areas that will benefit from the high quality water supply include Knocknacarra, Rahoon, Barna and Moycullen.
The funding comes as part of the Department of Environment’s Water Services Investment Programme which aims to ensure high quality and reliability of local public water supplies.
Galway West Fine Gael Deputy Sean Kyne says the project will also include the upgrading of the existing reservoir.
