FUNDING APPROVED FOR ROAD SAFETY AT CLAREGALWAY SCHOOL

50-thousand-euro in funding has been allocated for the improvement of road safety at Claregalway National School.

It follows growing local concerns and petitions by the Parents Association at the school and from residents in the neighbouring estates of Church View and Sli an Bhradain.

A dvd produced by the Parents Association highlighted risks posed on the road and also raised fears that a serious accident would occur in the absence of traffic calming.

The approved works will consist of traffic calming measures and pedestrian crossings.

Independent Deputy Noel Grealish says that the improvements will be in place by the end of this year.
