Fun for all the family at Comedy Carnival
Silent Disco for Kids, Comedy Club 4 Kids and The Amazing Bubbleman
Since 2005, the Comedy Club 4 Kids hosted by the extremely popular and very brave Tiernan Douieb has been getting the best stand-ups and sketch acts from the international circuit to do their thing for an audience of children and their families but without the rude bits! It’s just like a normal comedy club, but it’s on early in the day. Kids are allowed, resulting in a different kind of heckles like “why is that your face!?”
Be prepared for moments of sheer magic, uncontrollable giggling and smiling faces that will make school holiday entertainment that little bit easier. It is non-patronising and has been described as ‘pure awesome’.
Some very big names are playing to very little people this year including the wonderful Howard Read. Howard tours internationally with his Little Howard shows, has appeared on three series of Little Howard’s Big Question on CBBC. He writes for Horrible Histories, Gigglebiz and Danger Mouse. Other brilliant comedians will also be appearing such as Milton Jones, Fred Cooke, Rob Delaney, Rich Hall, Bec Hill and Irish sketch group superheroes Foil, Arms & Hog.
“A highlight for children in recent years, giving them a taste of some of the biggest names in comedy… with the fun, rowdy feel of a real comedy club” – The Guardian
Louis Pearl: The Bubbleman is making his Comedy Carnival debut this year, Louis, has been bubbling professionally since 1980, in San Francisco. He has written two books about bubbles, made a video called “Lights, Camera, Bubbles!” and has so far produced 21 fantastic bubble inventions.
As if all that wasn’t enough, the Vodafone Comedy Carnival are having a massive Silent Disco for Kids.
Two DJs play different songs, you wear wireless headphones and can switch between them. You choose the music, you dance and you sing your head off. It’s an unholy racket, it’s great craic and it’s just for kids.
‘It was brilliant – when I took off the headphones, everyone was singing so loud!’ Padraig, aged 7
