Fresh bid for floodlights at Stadium

A fresh application to erect controversial floodlights at Pearse Stadium is set to be submitted within the next couple of weeks.

Last November the Galway GAA Board withdrew a previous application for floodlighting as it was met with some local opposition. In fact, the indications were that the planning application was going to be refused and this was why the County Board moved to withdraw it.

But now they are in a position to lodge a new application and they believe that it could satisfy the fears expressed by a small number of local residents. According to sources within the GAA, it is now proposed to provide a high standard of floodlighting which has not been used in this country before.
