Galway Bay fm newsroom – A proposal to open a new service station in Barna has been submitted to the County Council for approval.
Martin Kearney has lodged a planning application for the development at Freeport.
The development would include a single storey service station with a shop, off-licence, restaurant, stores, and an office located along the seaside just off the R336.
It’ll also include a pump canopy, service area, underground oil storage tanks, an underground rainwater harvesting system and parking.
The lengthy application includes a Visual Impact Statement and a Road Safety Audit for the site which is zoned as ‘village core’.
A similar planning application in 2012 was refused permission by planners.
A decision is expected on the latest plan for a service station in Barna next month.
