Free tickets for We Banjo Three live recording
We Banjo Three will be recording a live album in Róisín Dubh over two nights on Saturday Sunday, February 21 and 22.
The Galway band combine Irish music with old-time American and bluegrass influences to reveal the banjo’s rich legacy and roots.
The band are Enda and Fergal Scahill and David and Martin Howley. Between them they sing and play guitar, fiddle, mandolin, percussion and,of course, banjo. The name We Banjo Three relates to the group’s original format – it was a trio composed of Enda, David and Martin, before Fergal came on board,
Their credentials are substantial, with Martin being a seven time All-Ireland Fleadh winner, and Enda having four titles, while Fergal and David are All-Ireland winners on banjo, fiddle, bodhrán and guitar.
Enda has recorded and toured with The Chieftains, Frankie Gavin, Stockton’s Wing, and Grammy-winner Ricky Skaggs. Fergal has performed with Máirtín O’Connor and Kevin Crawford, and has toured the world with the shows, Ragús and Celtic Legends. Martin was the very first Irish banjo player to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
We Banjo 3 combine the best of Irish and Bluegrass banjo traditions, fusing modern rhythms, traditional melodies, virtuosic technique and innovative arrangements of music and song to create an unparalleled mix of music from these instruments.
